Andreas JaegerAndreas Jäger

Dr Andreas Jäger works as the DAAD-Lecturer in the Department of Germanic Studies at the University of Sydney and as the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) representative for Australia.

He received his PhD in German as a Foreign Language (GFL) from the University of Bielefeld (Germany). He completed his MA degree in GFL, Germanic Linguistics and Romance Languages Linguistics at the University of Munich. Before coming to Australia he worked as the Deputy Director of a private language school in Germany.

Dr Jäger’s research interests lie in German and comparative linguistics as well as applied linguistics: language policies, varieties in languages, language history, language contacts, the connection between language and culture, effective language teaching and learning, motivation, computer-assisted language teaching, lexicography and German culture studies (Landeskunde).


Sabine JasnySabine Jasny

Dr Sabine Jasny is a lecturer for German as a foreign language (GFL). Dr Jasny received her PhD in GFL from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (Germany) and she did her MA degree in GFL, Germanic linguistics and Romance languages linguistics at the University of Munich as well.

Before coming to Australia she was working as a lecturer for GFL at the University of Bielefeld (Germany), Department of German as a Foreign Language.

Since February 2007, Sabine has been working as a lecturer in the Department of Germanic Studies at the University of Sydney. Her research interests are German linguistics, German as a foreign language: concepts, methods and material, as well as German area and culture studies.
